Young NSW pharmacist to
present at FIP
NSW Branch committee member Lisa
Kouladjian has been awarded the IMS
Health-Australian College of Pharmacy
Young Pharmacist Innovation Grant. She
will receive $5,000 to attend the
International Pharmaceutical Federation
(FIP) 73rd Annual World Congress in Dublin
Lisa said she was
receive the award
and delighted to
be chosen as an
'I have a passion for pharmacy and want
to be involved in moving the profession
forward. I see a crucial component as
increasing community awareness and
trust, and educating communities about
the role of pharmacy and pharmacists.
'In addition, a healthy future requires
that there must be professional solidarity
between different organisations which
represent pharmacies and pharmacists.
I hope to be part of building that solid
future,' she said.
Lisa is in the second year of her PhD in the
Ageing and Pharmacology Research Group
at the Kolling Medical Research Institute,
University of Sydney. The funding will also
help facilitate Lisa's translational research
projects on the Drug Burden Index as a
clinical risk assessment tool, and gives her
the opportunity to present her work at the
FIP World Congress.
She said: 'My research surrounds my
publication in the March 2013 edition
of Australian Pharmacist titled, The Drug
Burden Index: A new tool for Home Medicine
Reviews?. I will be conducting a feasibility
trial in 2014 looking to implement
the DBI in HMRs to evaluate patient
The IMS Health initiative was established
in 2008 to allow younger pharmacists
to be introduced to the 'world of
organisational pharmacy' and has
supported innovative young pharmacists
to attend the International Pharmaceutical
Monash Uni Gold Medal
Malaysian international student, Yen
Thong Wong, has won the Monash
University PSA Gold Medal.
She also won two other prizes -- the prize
for best fourth year exhibition and the
Neil Naismith Award.
PSA Victorian Branch Director, Bill Suen
said: 'We congratulate Ms Yen Thong
Wong on her academic achievements.

Yen is currently completing her
internship at the Quality Pharmacy
Group pharmacy in Melbourne.

best performing students throughout
the whole four year Bachelor of

and the Fourth Year Exhibition award
is for the best performing fourth year

SA/NT Branch members, and any other
